Mug from Mashiko
Mashiko-yaki pottery ware, born at the end of the Edo period (1603-1868), has long been loved for its everyday items. There are still nearly 400 kilns and shops in Mashiko-machi.
Mashiko-yaki is often thought of as a simple and rustic in style, brown with maybe a little red glaze, but modern pottery made in Mashiko today is found in many styles.
