This Korean travel teaset(tea for one) shows the charms of Hagi ware's rough clay, rich pockmarked surfaces, and cracks in the glaze. (Hagi ware originated in the 17th century with the introduction of potters brought back from Japanese invasions of Korea.) Hagi-style wares will take on character and deeper tones with age and use. Its blushing, soft reddish and creamy white glazes display a voluptuous warmth similar to living flesh.
